Meet Zachary Al-Saleem, a student in Lower Moreland Township School District. I am so proud of him for learning this enchanting and meloncholly piece.
Chosing music to play for a recital is a journey to your soul. I know there were times he was challenged and contemplating changing the piece, however, with persistence and perseverance Old Doll became one of our favorites. It is in a major key, contributing to a sense of simplicity and familiarity. The right hand plays the melody with gentle swells and diminuendos being supported by the left hand with harmonic support. This creates a melodic and slightly unsettling piece.
From Zach: I started playing in 2020, and I started lessons with Mrs. Debby last winter. Since I started, I’ve been able to get better at playing and have been able to play more complex pieces. I love playing classical music because it always sounds good and they sound full. But a thing about me is that I love pickles and raspberries and I play trumpet in my schools jazz band. (He now also plays french horn in school !)
